John Jordan
John Jordan was born in Mackay Queensland, in March 1951. He began his journey in the transport industry after leaving school, purchasing a local milk run and servicing the Mackay area with a small truck.
In 1974, at the age of 23, John bought his first truck fitted with an agitator, servicing Mackay and the surrounding areas in the concrete industry. By 1980, he expanded his operations when he purchased a cement tanker and began towing for QRX, delivering to concrete plants across the Mackay district.
In 1984, John secured a contract with Pauls Milk, transporting bulk milk in tankers from the dairy areas of Finch Hatton and Sarina, eventually extending services to Monto, Queensland. This contract involved operating seven days a week.
In 1989, John further expanded by purchasing a prime mover and towing for Comet Express, servicing routes between Brisbane and Townsville. That same year, John also took on another major contract with Pauls Milk, distributing packaged milk products from Bundaberg. The distribution area stretched south to Longreach, as well as west and north to Cairns. He successfully ran both Pauls Milk contracts for 22 years.
While managing the milk distribution business, John grew his fleet to 36 prime movers and 52 trailers. He also purchased a loading agency in Bowen to service southern markets with farm-grown produce. In 2003, John acquired a business supplying supermarkets throughout Central and Western Queensland, further cementing his contribution to regional logistics and transport.
After retiring in 2006, with 32 years of experience in the road transport industry, John continued his passion by running another transport business for an additional four years. During his time in the industry not only did John transport tonnes of freight but he also mentored team members like Anthony Mansell, who credits his own success with learning from John’s calm demeanour and genuine humility. John’s lifetime of experience, a humble attitude has made a lasting impact on the transport industry. He is one of the hardest-working people - yet you’d never hear from him. That’s exactly what makes Johnny Jordan, Johnny Jordan!
