On behalf of the National Road Transport Museum, staff and advisory committee we would like to wish our members and visitors a Merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous New Year. It’s been a busy year with celebrating our 30-year anniversary at our Festival of Transport 2025 held in August this year.   The event was well supported with truckies from all over Australia making their way to Alice Springs.

We had lots of familiar faces but also lots of new ones.

 Some Highlights from The Festival….

We honoured 82 new inductees onto the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame.

Icons this year were Graham Richers and Phil Russell.

Our History Maker this year was Greg Rhodes.

Greg’s display is in the TIA shed, joining our previously honoured History Makers. 2024 Kurt Johannsen and 2023 The Men from The Razorback Blockade.

Red Gala Ball Celebrating the Women in Transport with the Dream Maker Awards, it was sold out as usual, always a popular event.

A new addition this year was a Spit Roast event, our chairman Frank Bilato cooked up an amazing meal for hundreds of guests. This will be a regular event at our festivals as it was so popular.

The Truck Parade was a highlight, bringing lots of joy to the community, who turned out in large numbers to line the highway and watch our proud Truckies driving their amazing much-loved rigs. We thank all who participated, travelling to the Red Centre from all over Australia.

Show and Shine at Blatherskite Park after the parade was well supported by locals and visitors, enjoying Music, Food and Trucks.

An amazing way to finish off our celebration of 30-year Anniversary and our Festival of Transport 2025.

SOME OTHER UPDATES FROM THE YEAR

We had a big turnout during the Finke Desert Race in June. Lots of visitors and returning campers. We are expecting large numbers of visitors next year with the 50 years of Finke celebrations

We continued our educational program this year linking up with local schools, they have visited us using our amazing history to support the curriculum they are studying, We offer free admission to support the schools and local children.

We have teamed up with Journey Beyond (the Ghan) to have trial tours, firstly in March and again in November. We had very positive feedback from the tour guides, as well as the guests, you can see photos on our website www.roadtransporthall.com

We continue to host tour groups from both Australia and Overseas and again are seeing great feedback. We are in the process of linking with another tour company next year 2026.

Alice springs has so much to offer with something always on our community calendar.,

We are heading into 2026, with lots of positivity and continue to work hard to keep the museum a must see for all, a place for our members, visitors and locals to visit.

We hope you continue to support us and we appreciate you all.

Merry Christmas from us all

Lee-Anne, Wally, Fraser, Frank and the Advisory Committee and Bill ( Statutory manager) Claire ( EA ).

We will continue to update you as things happen, but we are always contactable on 08 89527161.
