Peppi Inverno
Peppi Inverno (Giuseppe) was born in April 1971. Over his 31 years of driving experience Peppi has completed interstate and country work, with flattops, tautliners, and refrigerated units. Peppi is a second-generation truck driver, learning from his father Phillip (Dec) who insisted Peppi learn a trade. Peppi qualified as an auto electrician and spent time working in that industry before returning to drive the family’s Bedford in the late 80s. Peppi used to cart potatoes from the paddocks to be stored in the shed as well as carting water from the water tower to the family home.
In the early 90s Peppi carted potatoes to Campbell soups in Shepparton, driving his dad’s 1986 Gold Nugget SAR, the one truck Peppi’s family regrets selling. In 1996 the Inverno family bought two brand new T 601’s and Peppi drove one of these doing interstate work. These trucks increased the Inverno Brothers fleet to 10 trucks.
In 1999 Peppi married Danielle, daughter of Bob Eccles, another successful and well-known owner driver in, Melbourne, Victoria. Once married, Peppi continued to drive for his parents until 2000, when Peppi and Danielle bought a T601 that Peppi drove from new. This was the very first truck they owned together and was the start of the very well-known company G & D Inverno transport.
In 2009 Peppi stepped into the 404 ST and drove that for about a year after his dad passed away before eventually buying the truck from his mum. Peppi and Danielle bought a Kenworth SAR T408 brand new in 2010 and this truck was driven by Peppi and added to the growing fleet. In 2014 they bought a new SAR T409, then after 18 months the business changed from country work to interstate work with Peppi driving the SAR T409 truck for a few years before it was added to the fleet.
It was a very special occasion when in 2018 Peppi, with his wife and sons Jeremy and Christopher ordered a T900 Legend build number #220. This was a build by the whole family, even the children had an equal say in how the truck was built and its appearance. The truck became the family’s pride and joy. It is an everyday working truck driven by Peppi and is regularly taken to truck shows throughout Australia where it has won some impressive awards, including the 2020 Owner Drivers Rig of the Year. Peppi is the only person to ever have driven this truck at work, and it will stay with his family for ever.
In 2024 Peppi and his family bought another very important and special truck taking their fleet total to seven. This time he bought an SAR legend, build number #220, this was ordered purposely to be the same build number as their Legend 900 and although they are different trucks its was deliberately built to be as similar as possibly in appearance. Peppi has stepped into the Legend SAR as his everyday working truck; this truck has also been taken to shows and recently won Best Rig of the Show at the prestigious Alexandra truck show 2025.
