Ian Haig started driving at Rutlands Bendigo “learning on empty stock crates. He moved then into Mathews Bendigo working on fridge vans but returned to Rutland”s driving a 3070 Acco.
He became an owner driver of an Atkinson then onto a very well known 3070. Ian sold out and went to diary farming but within six months had an old 1418 Mercedes Benz with a drop deck and began carting hay, farm machinery and balers to supplement the farm.
Ian bought a pop top Volvo in Cubico colours, number 8 in their new fleet of light weights and has been there ever since. It is the only original still there. During this time they were taken over by Mayne Logistics and then Linfox.
Now there are quite a few trucks in the fleet but he still drives weekly and enjoys the time away from the office.
Since Ian was 21 years old ( except for six months) he has had a truck at his home.
Ian is active in Industry Affairs: ATA, (Australian Trucking Association), Natroads, The Tarcutta Memorial and other philanthropic activities.
