Bob also spent 10 years driving and hauling logs out of the Mt Crawford Forest where he transported these loads to numerous places across the state of South Australia.
The Stuart Highway was Bob’s home away from home from 1958 until he retired from truck driving in 2012.
He was dedicated to truck driving and the trucking industry.
Bob enjoyed the lifestyle on the road as with all Australian truck drivers, and he shares the valued camaraderie of good mates made along the way.
Some of the trucks that Bob operated over this period of time on the road include Oshkosks, Macks and Kenworths.
Robert (Bob) East has recently retired his Oshkosh truck. This Oshkosh is proudly now in its final resting place having earned a site at the National Transport Hall of Fame at Alice Springs.
